Kevin McElroy

I have lived in treyburn for 2 years and have owned my home in treyburn since 2020.

I have served on the board of my previous HOA for 12 years and 13 years on the architectural control committee. I dealt with our HOA attorney, our engineering firm, and municipal officials. I negotiated landscape and hardscape contracts and managed contractors in a remodel of our entrance, signage, and lighting. I only resigned from the board because we sold our home and moved.

I believe I would be an asset to the community as I have plenty of free time to devote to the community and its residents. I am very fair, and I will use good judgement to enforce the covenants, work with homeowners to find solutions before lawyers need to get involved, and will use good judgement when choosing outside contractors to keep control of spending.

What would be your primary goals and priorities if elected to the HOA board?

My primary goal on the board would be to restore the tranquility, trust, and sense of community to treyburn. I would also work with delinquent homeowners to make suggestions and explore ideas to get them back into compliance. Sitting down and talking to someone is far more effective than sending a violation notice in the mail.

I would also like to expand events at the club, as well as neighborhood block parties so that people actually know their neighbors, not just wave at each other when they drive by.

I will push to open all board meetings, except violation hearings, and broadcast our meetings on zoom. Seven people should not close out the community while making decisions that affect us all.

How would you ensure the HOA's financial health and stability?

To ensure the financial health and stability of the community, i would review all delinquent accounts and work with homeowners to enter a payment plan that doesn't involve us taking legal action that costs all of us money. I would review existing contracts and open them up to bids by multiple vendors. I am extremely dismayed about the 60% increase in the cost of the new management company.

How much time can you realistically commit to the HOA board duties each month?

I can easily devote the time for HOA business, i am extremely fortunate to have been able to retire early, and at 56 years old i have flexibility in my schedule, i imagine the HOA duties will run about 20 hours a month or so.

Can you assume the responsibility of enforcing the covenants, even if it makes you unpopular?

Enforcement of the covenants is not an issue for me. In my past HOA board and committee positions, as well as my former career, I often made choices that were best for the majority, and not best for all.

I am not running for this board as a popularity contest, i am running because all covenants should be upheld, and upheld equally for all members. If someone feels l've made an unpopular choice, i will gladly sit down with them and show them the basis of my decision is spelled out by the governing documents.

I am a very fair and reasonable man, and i will make my decisions from the covenants, not from personal opinions. There is no way to make everyone happy in an HOA of this size, but I assure everyone will be treated fairly by me, and if someone is upset with me because of a reasonable decision i have made, there is nothing i can do, and won't take it personally.
